Gokyo Everest Trek

To see more of Everest (8848-m) and the three other Himalayan giants - Cho Oyu (8153-m), Lhotse (8501-m) and Makalu (8463-m), the exciting Gokyo Everest Trek (GET) should not be missed. In addition to the Khumbu region, this GET trek also explores the breath-taking but little-visited Gokyo valley which is located adajent of the Khumbu. Here, a hike to the high vantage point of Gokyo Ri (5350-m) will reward us with views of four of the eight highest mountains on earth - all in one panorama!

Depending on group members' well-being and trail conditions, we may take a short cut from the Gokyo to Khumbu valley via the challenging 5420-m Cho La pass. There is time also to visit the ice serac formations at Everest Base Camp (5365-m) in addition to the classic hike up to Kala Patar (5545-m) with its sensational views of Everest’s entire South Face and West Ridge. That's 4 major high points over 5000-m in one single trek, a considerable challenge especially to those unaccustomed to high altitude challenges.

These mountains are magical--and so are our encounters with the Sherpa people, the famous mountain dwellers of this Himalayan wonderland. As in the classic Everest Base Camp trek, the warmth and hospitality extended by the local inhabitants of this region, the Sherpas, will add a further dimension to our experience of Nepal.
