4D3N Mount Kinabalu Trek - Mesilau Trail

At 4,095 metres, Mount Kinabalu in Sabah is the highest mountain in the countries neighbouring Singapore. The journey to Kinabalu Park ( 1,560-m ) is a road journey of 2 hours along a good winding mountain road 90 km from Kota Kinabalu.

Each year tens of thousands of visitors make the climb along the scenic Kinabalu Mountain Trail. Although the trip requires no special abilities and anyone in good health and vigor can reach the summit, it is an intense trek that involves a straight-up ascent from an altitude of about 1900m to 4100m within a 24-hour period with little recovery time. There are very few mountains in the world that are as tall as Mount Kinabalu and yet so climber friendly and natural & can be climbed in 2 days. This makes it a popular mountain - during holiday seasons there may be up to 200 people climbing the mountain per day!

Your safety is of great importance to us. For our climbs, you can expect handpicked mountain guides that ensure adequate supervision & safety. We probably offer the most comprehensive trip preparation program you can find in the market to ensure that our members are the best prepared trekking group on the mountain.

Expect a hard trek over 2-day period. For the average person who do not exercise on a regular basis, at least 2 months of pre-trek physical conditioning of at least 2-3 times per week is recommended. To make sure that you reach the summit in good form, we strongly encourage that all participants tune up their fitness for the trip. We are pleased to offer advice or training services upon requests. Possessing good physical condition is guaranteed to enhance your trek experience.

Mesilau Trail

The newer of the 2 trails up Mount Kinabalu, Mesilau Trail is far more challenging. Not only is it 2km longer, while Timpohon Trail is a constant uphill climb, Mesilau is undulating for the 1st half and steep & narrow for the 2nd half before meeting the old trail at Layang-Layang Hut. After that, it is the same trail for the next 2km to Laban Rata. While widely regarded as the more scenic route with interesting vegetation and a nice waterfall for a lunch spot, it is a much more demanding climb and only recommended for trekkers with an excellent level of fitness.
