Mt Siguniang Dafeng Summit Trek

Legend has it that Mount Siguniang Shan (Four Maidens Mountain or Four Sisters Mountain) is the embodiment of four beautiful sisters. This enchanting legend is befitting of the place, where blue sky, snow peaks, alpine meadows, cypress forests and rushing waterfalls reside.

Located 220km west of Chengdu, in the Qionglai Mountains of western Sichuan in China. Mount Siguniang National Park (a UNESCO Heritage Site in 2006) is one of the most scenic areas in the Aba Autonomous Prefecture. The park comprises of Mount Siguniang surrounded with three valleys (Changping Valley (长坪沟), Haizi Valley (海子沟) and Shuangqiao Valley (双桥沟) ) surrounding it.

The highest peak, Yaoguniang/Sifeng 6250m (幺姑娘 / the youngest girl), also known as the 'Queen of Sichuan's peaks' is snow-capped all year round and remain unconquered.Shanguniang/Shanfeng 5664m and Erguniang/Erfeng 5445m are both technical routes. Only Dafeng 5035m is a trekking route.

The base for visiting Siguniang Shan is a small Tibetan town named Rilong 日隆镇 (3200m). We will travel from Chengdu to Rilong through the mountainous region, by-passing the Wolong Nature Reserve where the Wolong Panda Reserve is located. We'll start the trek to Dafeng Summit after a day of acclimatization in Rilong, spending the day visiting Changping Valley (长坪沟), which is the most popular valley for tourists.

Day 4-6	3D/2N Dafeng (5035m) summit trek, starting the trek from Haizi Valley. The Haizi Valley is still in pristine condition with an amazing view of the Siguniang Shan peaks and there are no villages within it. While the trek to the basecamp is a relatively gradual walk, the trek from the basecamp to the summit is tough, with loose rocks and possibility of thick snow, as well as strong wind. (B/L/D)
