8 Days Great Wall Trek

The only man-made structure that can be seen from the moon, The Great Wall is certainly a wonder of the world, as well as the symbol of China. Chairman Mao once said “He who does not reach the Great Wall is not a true man”. More than 10,000 miles of walls had been built in its 2000 year-old history for the purpose to resist enemies of nomadic tribes. The walls undulate over the ridges of mountains, cliffs, plains and sparse desert. Although The Great Wall has mostly collapsed over time or destroyed by wars, some sections still remain in good shape as witness of history.

In our Great Wall hiking, we will explore this ancient monument and experience the marvel of its architectural feat, as well as incredible scenery en route.

Singapore - Beijing
Day 2 - 4

We start our trek from Gunbeikou, passing over Jinshanling, arriving at Simatai. Then we restart at Huangyaguan Pass and arrive at the pretty village of Qian. These are sections of The Great Wall far from the usual tourist haunts and preserved in its original state. Hiking along here will bring you back to the times when Chinese warriors guarded the Central Plains from the aggressive Northern tribes.

Day 5 - 7

After 3 days of hard walking, it is time to explore and enjoy the many offerings of the Chinese Capital. Not to be missed are of course the Forbidden City, the ancient alleys of Hutong and the perennial favourite of Peking Roast Duck.
