The Destination

The Annapurna region is well known for many popular treks. Some people refer to these popular treks as ‘highway treks’ because of the large number of tourists during the peak season from March to May and September to November. While the critics are justified, it is a great pity to miss out on the most spectacular views of some of Nepal's highest mountains - the Annapurnas, Lamjung Manaslu, Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri and Machhapuchhare (Fishtail) - that can only be seen on these treks. The treks also go through diverse terrain, from the subtropical forests to dry valleys, and from high passes to meandering rivers. The cultural diversity is equally impressive. You will meet various tribes along the way, who have all settled in the shadow of Annapurna. Though most of the inhabitants' lives are still pretty tough, they're ever ready with their generous smiles and genuine hospitality.
