Adventure Quests is pleased to present the second of its Climbing High expedition to Cerro Aconcagua, one of the famed Seven Summits and the highest mountain in the Americas.

About Adventure Quests’ Expedition Leader - Joanne Soo

Honoured as one of the ‘Great Women of Our Time’ by Women’s Weekly, Joanne is a member of the Singapore Women’s Everest Team, the first Singapore all-women’s team to summit Mount Everest in May 2009. Her other mountaineering achievements include summits of the world’s 6th highest peak, Mt Cho Oyu and several peaks above 5000m.

Joanne is the Race Director of numerous adventure races such as the Ace Adventure Challenge and the Adventure Singapore Race. She is also a veteran in leading treks and mountaineering expeditions. A Sport Climbing and an Abseiling Instructor, Joanne is also trained on ice-climbing. Guided by her passion for adventure sports, Joanne serves as the Vice-Chairman of the SAFRA Adventure Club and the Technical Director of the Singapore Mountaineering Federation (SMF). Joanne also holds a certified International Sport Climbing Judge with the International Federation for Sport Climbing Competition (IFSC).

Joanne has more than 10 years of experience working with youth & adults on developing climbing skills for personal growth. From competition climbing to mountaineering, Joanne’s focus is on ensuring that individuals lift their performance skills and behaviour, apply international climbing practice and hold individuals accountable for their learning and development. For her, climbing is intensely personal so the learning process must be challenging, rewarding and also enjoyable.

Joanne’s journey can be expressed as a metaphor for personal development. It is a story about ordinary people achieving extraordinary results. Joanne conveys both the individual and the team perspective by stressing the importance of her passion and dreams while fulfilling a role as a member of a team.
